Bay High School Rockets Make a Splash at Conference Meet

Bay High School's Swimming & Diving teams demonstrated exceptional performances at the recent conference meet, securing second place finishes for both the boys and girls teams among eight competing schools. The Rockets boys team accumulated 257.5 points, matching their female counterparts who gathered 226 points. Key performances included Luke Filiatraut, who retained his title as conference champion in the 100 butterfly while also securing a second-place finish in the 100 backstroke. Aaron Bernys was a notable scorer, placing second in both the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle. The boys team saw strong contributions across the board, with Oliver Brown and Peyton Myers each grabbing third place in their individual events. The diving segment was led by Charlie Vatolin, retaining his title as conference champ, clinching the top spot with a score of 423.65, while Bennett Bourn also contributed with a fifth-place finish. The girls team showcased their strength with Lily Wavak leading as the conference championship winner in the 50 freestyle and earning a sixth place in the 100 freestyle. Freshmen Ruby Render, Moriah Murtha, and Emery Ziemnik made impressive debuts, each placing on the podium in their respective events. Cecilia Gomez also assisted in scoring placing 6th overall in the 500 freestyle. The relay teams were equally strong, with significant points added from their second, third and fourth-place finishes in the 200 medley, 200 and 400 freestyle relays, respectively. With this performance, Bay High School continues to establish itself as a formidable force in the swimming and diving circuit, proving the Rockets are a team to watch in future competitions.
