Bay High School Rockets Secure a Strong Start to the Volleyball Season
The Bay High School Rockets, representing the girls' varsity volleyball team, opened their regular season with an impressive victory against the Firelands Falcons on August 19, 2025. The match, held at Firelands High School, concluded with a clean sweep, lifting the Rockets to a 1-0 record in this non-conference engagement.
The Rockets set the tone early, starting strong in the first set, defeating the Falcons 25-18. They continued to dominate in the second set with a decisive 25-10 win. Although Firelands put up a tougher fight in the third set, Bay maintained control, closing it out at 25-20 to seal a 3-0 victory in the match.
Key players showcased remarkable performances with Payton Masterson leading as the top server, accumulating 14 service points. She was well supported by teammates Olivia Miller and Olivias Stehlik, each contributing 8 points. Additionally, Amelia Vecchio and Nina Peet added 6 points a piece, followed by Camille Costin with 4 points and Andy Naughton rounding out the scoring with 1 point.
Looking forward, the Rockets are set to host Lutheran West in another non-conference match on August 21, 2025, at Bay High School. The team hopes to continue their winning ways and build on their strong season start.
