Bay High School Rockets Secure Thrilling Win Against Avon Lake
In a heart-stopping regular season encounter, the Bay High School Rockets clinched a narrow victory against Avon Lake with a final score of 60-58 on December 10. The thrilling game, held at Avon Lake High School, saw the Rockets make a significant comeback after trailing 26-30 at the halftime break.
The game was a nail-biter right up to the final seconds, thanks primarily to a standout performance by junior Ethan George, who added crucial points in the closing moments. George, making 3 out of 4 crucial free throws, extended the lead to four points with just 8.6 seconds remaining, effectively sealing the victory for Bay. Reflecting on his critical role, George shared, "I was just trying to do my part. Everyone on our team did their job to get the win, and this was my job tonight to finish it."
Other notable contributions came from Collin Melvin, who led the Rockets with 20 points, followed by Max Cockburn with 12 points. Both Caleb Rinehart and Ryan Miller added 9 points each, rounding out a solid team effort. The Rockets, who now sit at a 3-1 season record and 1-0 in the CWC, look to continue their winning streak in their upcoming game against North Olmsted on December 13 at North Olmsted High School.
