Bay High School Rockets Shine at Girls Varsity Invitational

In a display of skill and determination, the Bay High School Rockets' Track and Field team secured a commendable 3rd place at the Girls Varsity Invitational on April 4, 2025, held at Firelands High School. Competing against seasoned schools like Firelands, Keystone, Brookside, Fairview, Avon, North Olmsted, and Olmsted Falls, the Rockets showcased their prowess in both track and field events amidst cool and cloudy weather.

The Rockets were led by standout performers such as Birdie Kreuger and Mckenna Adkins in the sprints, with Birdie securing a 4th place in the 100 meters and Mckenna claiming 3rd in the 200 meters. Evin Mason notched a season personal record in the 400 meters, while Lyn Swislocki marked her debut in the Varsity Invitational with a 5th place finish. In the middle and long distances, freshman Carmella Roehl impressed everyone with a second place in the grueling 3200 meters race.

In the hurdles, Ainsley Schneid courageously competed in both the 100 and 300 meters hurdles, capturing 3rd and 4th places respectively. The relay teams also had notable success with a 2nd place in the 4x100 relay and a 4th in the 4x200 relay, demonstrating strong teamwork and coordination.

The field events brought further accolades with Riley Mitchell dominating her specialty, the shot put, with a first place throw of 33'6". She also excelled in the Discus, contributing to the team's overall score with a 6th place. Jaiden, showcasing a personal best, took third in the high jump, and Ruby also recorded a personal best in the long jump with a leap of 14'7".

Adding a personal touch to her team's performance, sophomore Jaiden remarked, "it may be cold, but our times are warming up!" The Rockets aim to carry this momentum into their next competition at the Avon Lake Invitational on April 5, 2025.
