Bay High School Rockets' Swimmers Shine Despite Tough Outing Against Rocky River

In a challenging dual meet against Rocky River, Bay High School's Swimming & Diving team displayed commendable performances, even as they faced defeats in both boys and girls categories. The boys concluded with a score of Rocky River 102, Bay 80, while the girls ended at Rocky River 103, Bay 75.

Despite the overall team scores, individual Rockets swimmers soared with remarkable achievements. Sophomore Luke Filiatraut led the line with victories in both the 200 IM and 100 backstroke. His teammate, Junior Ollie Brown, matched this feat by securing top spots in the 100 freestyle and 100 breaststroke. Senior Aaron Bernys also impressed, winning the 500 freestyle and taking second in the 200 freestyle, with Freshman Liam Jager tailing closely for a strong second finish in the 500 freestyle. Additionally, Senior Peyton Myers made significant contributions by placing second in the 100 butterfly.

The girls' team also saw strong individual performances. Junior Lily Wavak placed second in the 50 freestyle, showcasing her speed in the quick sprint. Freshman Ruby Render continued the trend with a second-place finish in the 100 freestyle, while Senior Gwynn Miller supported the team by securing second in the 100 breaststroke. Notably, Freshman Moriah Murtha captured the lone individual victory for the girls' team, dominating her 100 backstroke race.

Though the day ended in a loss, the standout swims from the Rockets underlined the depth and talent within the team, hinting at a strong potential for future competitions.
