Bay High School opened its boys tennis season Friday with a 3-2 victory over St. Edward at Bradley Park, getting straight-set wins from all three singles positions to secure the match.

Martin Hausler set the tone in first singles with the most decisive result of the day, rolling to a 6-0, 6-0 win. Hausler did not surrender a single game, providing Bay with a fast point and one of the standout performances of the season opener.

The Rockets also got straight-set victories from Sacha Jones at second singles and Nate Trnavsky at third singles. Those wins gave Bay the three points it needed in the five-match format and highlighted the depth of the singles lineup in the first match of the spring.

While the doubles flights went to St. Edward, Bay's work in singles proved decisive. The Rockets were steady across the lineup and finished off the season-opening result by controlling the individual matchups that mattered most.

The victory gives Bay a 1-0 start and an early boost heading into a busy stretch away from home. The Rockets are scheduled to travel next week for matches against Brunswick, Gilmour Academy and North Olmsted.
