Bay Boys Track & Field places Fourth at 50th Bell Invitational Behind Sprint, Hurdle and Relay Standouts

Bay Boys Track & Field turned in one of its strongest all-around meets of the season Friday at the 50th Bell Invitational, finishing fourth in Rocky River and ending just seven points behind River. The Rockets backed that team result with event wins, relay success, numerous personal records and season bests.
The biggest scoring punch came from the sprints and hurdles. Jayden Perrine won the 200 meters in 22.08, while Ben Kamm delivered a major PR of 23.40 to place third and Will Curran added a 13th-place finish, giving Bay 16 points in one of its best events of the day. Perrine also was runner-up in the 100 in 11.01, and Kamm added a fifth-place finish in 11.64. Colin McAlea contributed a season-best 11.77 for 12th, helping the Rockets pile up another 12 points.
Bay was just as sharp in the hurdles. Max Fischer won the 110 hurdles in 16.09, Lute Harmon posted a PR of 17.09 for third, and Jack Downing recorded a season-best 18.24 as the Rockets scored 16 more points. Fischer later completed the hurdle sweep with another victory and a huge PR in the 300 hurdles at 40.98. Downing added a sixth-place finish with a season-best 45.21, and Charlie Juratic ran a PR of 51.56. In the field, Jackson Smith took second in the high jump at 6-0 and Harmon cleared 5-10 for third, another valuable 14-point event for Bay.
The relays kept the momentum rolling. The 4x800 team of Liam Jager, Stephen Murphy, Mikey Taylor and Kieran Ripley finished second in 8:31.89 for eight points. Bay's 4x400 quartet of Jager, Perrine, Fischer and Kamm delivered one of the top relay performances of the meet, taking third in 3:34.86. The 4x200 team of Curran, Kamm, McAlea and Fischer placed fourth in 1:33.87, while the 4x100 group of Nick Cebulis, Evan Taulbee, Downing and McAlea finished sixth in 47.20.
There were plenty of encouraging performances across the rest of the lineup. Stephen Murphy placed third in the 3200 in 10:24.04, and James Greenleaf added a PR of 11:17.96. In the 800, Mikey Taylor finished fifth in 2:04.50 and Kieran Ripley was ninth in 2:06.92, while Dan Buttrick ran a PR of 2:32.34. Bay's younger distance runners also made a strong statement in the 1600, with Gavin English clocking a PR of 4:52.49, Adrian Ray adding a PR of 4:57.15 and Jager breaking the 5-minute barrier.
The throws and vault crew added to the team total as well. Braeden Egan led the shot put group with a sixth-place finish at 43-4.5, while Danny Zipfel posted a PR of 40-8 and Andrew Egan threw 38-2. In discus, Braeden Egan placed eighth at 132-2, Zipfel was close behind at 131-7 and Ethan McCready reached 105-9. Logan Bigrigg cleared 10-0 for seventh in pole vault, and Cole Aslaksen went 9-0 for eighth. Elsewhere, Nick Cebulis ran 58.19 in the 400, Leo Krueger posted a PR of 1:02.59, and Ben Rickson turned in a 16-5 mark in the long jump. For a Bay team stacking wins, PRs and season bests, Friday's meet offered another clear sign that the Rockets are moving in the right direction at the right time.
