Bay Posts 208 in First Home Match as Taulbee Fires 43

Avon Lake, Ohio - Ella Taulbee led Bay High School with a 43, and Ella Taulbee added a career-low round Wednesday as the Rockets posted a team score of 208 against Gilmour Academy. Bay lost its first home dual of the season, dropping its record to 3-2.

Bay played without one of their top golfers, creating an opening for other golfers to take on larger roles. Ella Taulbee, usually one of the Rockets’ top scorers, responded with a personal-best performance, while several teammates gained valuable varsity experience.

Taulbee produced Bay’s lowest listed score and set the pace with her 43. Samantha Fry followed with a 53, giving the Rockets their second counting round. Lydia Oldham, Charlotte Hofelich and Katherine Bowler each finished at 56. Two of those three scores completed Bay’s four-round team total of 208.

The group behind Bay’s leaders remained closely packed. June Hart carded a 57, finishing only one stroke behind the three-way group at 56. That depth allowed multiple Rockets to remain in contention for scoring positions throughout the match, even with a regular contributor unavailable.

Although Gilmour Academy handed Bay its second dual loss, the home opener provided several encouraging results. Taulbee’s 43 gave the Rockets a strong score at the top of the lineup, Ella Taulbee reached a career low, and the cluster of finishes from 53 to 57 reflected the team’s developing depth as Bay moved forward with a 3-2 dual record.
