BRUNSWICK, Ohio - Bay High School secured two singles victories and one doubles win to defeat Brunswick 3-2 in a varsity girls tennis match Tuesday afternoon. Blaire Glass won in straight sets at first singles, Elizabeth Steele completed a three-set comeback at third singles, and Ella Schelzig and Madeline Mahoney prevailed at first doubles for the Rockets.

Blaire Glass set the tone at the top of the singles lineup with a 6-2, 7-6 victory. After controlling the opening set, Blaire Glass faced a tighter challenge in the second. The set reached a tiebreak before Blaire Glass finished the straight-set win and delivered one of Bay's three team points.

The Rockets also received a determined performance from Elizabeth Steele at third singles. After dropping the first set 6-3, Elizabeth Steele reversed the match with a 6-3 win in the second set. That momentum carried into the deciding set, where Elizabeth Steele pulled away for a 6-2 victory. The comeback gave Bay its second singles point and proved important in a match decided by the narrowest possible team margin.

At first doubles, Ella Schelzig and Madeline Mahoney gave the Rockets a steady straight-set performance. The pair opened with a 6-2 win and followed it with a 6-4 result in the second set, accounting for Bay's lone doubles point. Their victory, combined with the results from Blaire Glass and Elizabeth Steele, supplied the three points needed to take the match.

Savannah Keberdle nearly added another singles victory after recovering from a 6-1 first-set loss at second singles. Keberdle extended the second set to a tiebreak before Brunswick closed out the match 7-6. Brunswick earned its other point at second doubles, where Maura Mahoney and Makayla Long fell 6-0, 6-4. Even with those two losses, Bay's balance across the lineup carried the Rockets to the 3-2 road victory.
