Bay Rally Falls Short in 41-28 Loss to North Olmsted

NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio - Bay High School rallied from an early deficit behind four touchdown passes from Patrick Cleary, but North Olmsted’s fast start proved decisive in the Rockets’ 41-28 conference loss Friday night.

Cleary directed a productive passing attack as Bay worked its way back into the game. He threw all four of the Rockets’ touchdown passes, connecting twice with Brody Beggs and once each with Jack McManamon and Ethan Sedivec. Those scoring plays helped Bay remain within striking distance after falling behind early.

Beggs delivered two touchdown receptions, with both catches gaining more than 2 yards. His ability to finish drives gave the Rockets an important option as they attempted to erase the deficit. McManamon added a 25-yard touchdown reception, giving Bay another explosive play through the air.

Sedivec produced Bay’s longest scoring reception, breaking free for a 40-yard touchdown. The long connection added to the Rockets’ comeback effort and completed a four-touchdown performance from the passing game. Bay’s offense continued to answer and made the game competitive, but North Olmsted generated enough scoring to keep the Rockets from completing the rally. Griffin Ruppe also had a nice game making all his extra points and kicking and recovering his own onside kick.

The loss came despite an encouraging response from Bay after its difficult start. Cleary’s four touchdown passes and scoring contributions from three receivers highlighted an offense capable of creating plays at multiple levels. The Rockets will return home to face Lakewood at 7 p.m. EDT Friday, Oct. 2, at Bay High School.
