Bay Rockets Boys Golf Team Shines at Midview Invitational

Rick Manderine | Bay High School | Sep 3, 2025

The Rockets Boys Golf team from Bay High School achieved a significant milestone at the Midview Invitational on September 2, 2025, at Columbia Hills Country Club. This Varsity Boys team, under sunny skies and ideal golf conditions, posted a season-low team score of 333 in the competitive 18-hole stroke play tournament involving sixteen teams. Leading the charge for the Rockets was Travis Ropelewski, who carded a 76, including three birdies, which earned him a tie for fifth place among 80 players. His performance was particularly remarkable considering his rebound from a challenging double bogey start to play the final 14 holes at even par. Matthew Mileti and Emmitt Naughton also contributed solid scores of 83 and 84, respectively, with their potential for breaking into the 70s marred only by a few costly three-putts. According to the coach, "The team compiled a season-low 333 score. Trav's effort after a double bogey start was awesome. Mileti and Naughton played solid---A few three putts cost them an opportunity to score in the 70's." Additionally, Travis shared his excitement about his play, noting, "I had a lot of fun today. My driver was on fire the final 9 holes. It was the key to the three birdies." Looking forward, the Rockets Golf team is focusing on their next challenge, Senior Night against Avon Lake at Sweetbriar Golf Course. With a current season record of 45-36, and building momentum, the Rockets are poised to make a notable impact at the upcoming sectionals, hinting at a promising finish to their season.
