PERRY, Ohio — Bay Girls Basketball’s postseason run ended Saturday night as the Rockets fell 74-50 to top-seeded Brush High School in the Division III district final at Perry High School. Bay set the tone early and controlled the pace in the opening minutes, but Brush responded with a decisive first-quarter surge and never relinquished control.

Bay opened the game aggressively, attacking the glass and working for quality perimeter looks to build an early advantage. The Rockets’ half-court execution and tempo initially put Brush on its heels, but the Arcs responded with a sustained run to close the first quarter. Brush’s pressure defense and transition opportunities flipped the momentum, and Bay trailed 17-9 after the first eight minutes.

From there, Bay continued to battle, stringing together possessions in an effort to cut into the deficit. The Rockets moved the ball effectively in the half court and generated inside-out opportunities, but Brush showed why it entered the tournament as the No. 1 seed. The Arcs consistently answered Bay’s scoring bursts with runs of their own, extending the margin through the middle quarters with balanced offense and active defense.

Freshman forward Chloe Kazma led Bay with a standout all-around performance, finishing with 16 points, eight rebounds and two assists. Kazma was a constant presence on the boards and helped stabilize the Rockets’ offense with interior scoring and second-chance opportunities. Her work in the paint gave Bay a reliable option as the team tried to close the gap against Brush’s length and pressure.

On the perimeter, Norah Trefz provided a major spark from long range, knocking down four 3-pointers on her way to 14 points. Trefz’s shooting helped fuel a great 4th quarter offensively for the Rockets. Madelyn Lee added 11 points to go with four assists and six rebounds, contributing both as a scorer and facilitator, while Anna Weingart filled the stat sheet with five points, six rebounds and five assists. Caroline Chilton chipped in four points to round out the Rockets’ balanced scoring effort.

Despite the final margin, Bay continued to compete deep into the fourth quarter, executing in the half court and defending with effort against a high-powered Brush offense. The Rockets’ performance featured multiple contributors and steady resilience, even as the top seed maintained control late. The loss closes the book on a 19-win season, the most since 2018-19. The effort against a highly ranked opponent underscored the Rockets’ toughness and highlighted several key individual performances that will carry forward into future seasons.
