Bay Rockets Girls Cross Country Claims Victory at Hoka Kickoff Classic

On August 23, 2025, the Bay Rockets Girls Cross Country team showcased their prowess by clinching first place at the Hoka Kickoff Classic Girls Black Division, held at Painesville Riverside High School. Competing against a formidable lineup of 36 teams and 313 runners, the Rockets demonstrated exceptional teamwork and strategy, accumulating 43 points to secure the top spot in this invitational event. Maya Gonzalez led the Rockets with a remarkable time of 19:08, landing her the second spot individually and marking her performance as the seventh-fastest in the all-time Bay 5K cross country list. Following closely were Clare Messmore and Anika Schulz, who finished fourth and sixth with times of 19:48 and 19:50, respectively. Both runners also made significant strides into the Bay top 20 performance list, further highlighting the team's depth. Anne Weber, finishing ninth at 20:21, emphasized the collaborative spirit of the team, attributing their success to a 'total team effort', both in varsity and open events. Additional contributions came from Elyse Edelman, Chloe Vincent, Nolie Piktel, Claire Schearer, Ainsley Scheid, and Grace Kelley, who all placed strongly to bolster the team's score. Coach Snyder reflected on the performance with pride, noting the numerous personal records set during the meet and commended it as 'a solid way to start the 2025 season.' The enthusiasm and commitment displayed by the Bay High School Rockets Girls set a hopeful precedent for their upcoming event, the Avon Lake Earlybird, scheduled for August 30, 2025, at LCCC.
