Bay Rockets Girls Cross Country Shows Strength at Medina Invitational
The Bay High School Girls Cross Country team, known as the Rockets, showcased impressive endurance and teamwork at the Medina Milt Place Invitational Cross Country Meet on October 4, 2025, held in Medina, Ohio. Competing against a field of robust schools like Wadsworth, Avon, and Medina, the Rockets secured a commendable 6th place among 30 teams in the D1/D2 race. Individually, the Rockets had standout performances. Maya Gonzalez led the team with an 11th place finish, clocking in at 19:27. She was followed by Clare Messmore and Anika Schulz who finished 22nd and 33rd with times of 20:04 and 20:17, respectively. Other notable performances included Kai Ripley at 49th place with a time of 20:52 and Nolie Piktel close behind in 53rd place at 21:00. The collective effort was highlighted by all top six runners of the Rockets finishing in the top 55, proving their competitiveness in a challenging lineup. Coach Scott Snyder praised the team's collective spirit and performance. "The girls ran a great race against some very tough D1 competition. Today was a total team effort and the girls produced great results," he commented, reflecting on the meet. Looking ahead, the Rockets are set to compete next at the Cleveland West Conference Championship on October 11, 2025, at Medina Buckeye High School. The team aims to build on their strong performance as they continue their season.
