Bay Rockets Girls Soccer Secures Overtime Victory in State Semifinal Against Granville

In a thrilling State Semifinal held at Clear Fork High School, Bay Rockets Girls Soccer Rockets clashed with the Granville Aces on November 4, 2025, under chilly weather conditions. The match concluded with a victory for Bay, as they overcame Granville, securing a final score of 2-1 in the overtime period. The first half of the game was tightly contested with neither team able to break the deadlock, leading to a halftime score of 0-0. The defensive plays were pivotal, with both teams demonstrating solid backline performances. Bay's momentum began to shift with Meg Webster's crucial goal at the 55th minute, bringing the score to 1-0. Granville, however, managed to level the score before regulation time ended, pushing the match into overtime tied at 1-1. Overtime was marked by heightened tension and strategic plays. Aley Fetterman rose to the occasion, netting the game-winning goal just 1 minute and 3 seconds into overtime, sending the Bay Rockets into the State Championship game. Bay's goalkeeping was split between the dynamic duo of Olivia Ruma who guarded the net in the first half followed by Riley Mitchell in the second. Both goalkeepers were recognized for their remarkable efforts, contributing significantly to the team's success. An additional highlight was an unbelievable defensive effort by Alex Linsenmeyer in the second half, which was crucial in preventing Granville from a goal. With this win, the Rockets improve their record to 16-3-2 and advance to face Hamilton Badin at the State Championship scheduled for November 8, 2025. This final clash will be held at Historic Crew Stadium in Columbus at 1pm, where the Rockets look forward to ending the season with a championship victory.
