Bay Rockets Golf Achieves Notable Success at The Battle @ Briardale
On a breezy, sunny day with temperatures in the low 70s, the Bay Boys Golf participated in the invitational 18-hole stroke play tournament, 'The Battle @ Briardale', at Briardale Greens Golf Course in Euclid, Ohio. The tournament took place on September 6, 2025, featuring six teams from Cuyahoga County. The Rockets ended the tournament with a team score of 350, finishing 3-3 against their opponents. Noteworthy performances were seen from Matthew Mileti who scored an 80, including 2 birdies, tying him for first place among the 36 players. His exceptional short game and iron control in the middle portion of the round earned him first place honors. Other important contributions came from Emmitt Naughton and Jack Wunder, with Naughton scoring an 87 with one birdie, and Wunder finishing strong with a 42 on his last 9 holes, overcoming earlier difficulties to post a solid score. The challenging conditions of strong winds and fast greens were a significant factor during the match, as highlighted by the coach's remarks. He praised Mileti for mastering the tough conditions and commended Jack Wunder for his impressive comeback in the final stretches of the course. Mileti himself reflected on his performance with positivity, noting his effective ball striking and expressing a whimsical regret over a missed putt which could have kept his score in the 70s.
