Cale LaRiccia | Bay High School | Dec 7, 2024

In a dynamic display of skill and teamwork, the Bay High School Rockets emerged victorious over the Buckeye Bucks with a final score of 65-48 in last night's basketball game on December 6, 2024. This triumph pushed their season record to an encouraging 2-1, including a 1-0 stance in the Cleveland West Conference.

The Rockets, led by standout performances from Collin Melvin and Tommy Mack, managed to secure a significant lead by halftime with a score of 26-22. Melvin dazzled with a game-high 22 points, demonstrating his scoring prowess on the court. Mack was not far behind, contributing a solid 16 points and displaying exceptional resilience and strategy, particularly in his near-perfect shooting in the paint. Besides his scoring, Mack played a key role defensively, adeptly managing Buckeye's taller players around the rim.

In a diversified scoring effort, 10 different Rockets players contributed to the scoreboard, showcasing the depth and versatility of the team. The Rockets were also acknowledged for their improved teamwork and execution, a direct response to the lessons learned from a tough overtime loss earlier in the week. Tommy Mack, recognized as the game's 'Light The Fuse Player of the Game,' shared his thoughts on the team's performance, "I think we learned from our tough overtime loss on Tuesday. We got better and worked on a lot of things in practice, and tonight is a great showing of who we are as a team."

Looking forward, the Rockets are set to face Avon Lake on December 10 at Avon Lake High School, aiming to maintain their winning momentum in the season.
