Bay Rockets Varsity Football Triumphs in Clash Against North Olmsted Eagles

Liam Szambecki | Bay High School | Oct 10, 2025

The Bay High School Rockets secured a 28-14 victory over the North Olmsted Eagles in a regular season Varsity Football game on October 9, 2025, at the Bay High School Memorial Field. The chilly weather did not dampen the competitive spirit of the Rockets who maintained a strong defensive and offensive stance throughout the game. The first half saw the Rockets dominate, ending with a 13-0 lead. Key performances included a scoop and score by Jimmy Boehnlein from 18 yards out and a 36-yard rushing touchdown by Rocco Ereditario. The team's defense was notably solid, effectively holding the Eagles scoreless in the first half. As the game progressed, the Eagles mounted a comeback but the Rockets never stopped fighting. Patrick Cleary, the Rockets' quarterback, threw a crucial 56-yard touchdown pass to Brody Beggs on a high-stakes 4th and 14 situation to regain the lead. Later, Charlie Rodgers caught a 32-yard pass from Cleary, sealing the victory for the Rockets. Both Cleary's passes and the dynamic receiving skills of Rodgers and Beggs were pivotal in the second half. Patrick said "It was a hard fought win that we knew was gonna be tough and we know we had to make a play when they scored again and took the lead so I leaned on the guys I know can make the plays and Brody and Charlie made them for me." The Eagles mounted and managed to put 14 points on the board, but the Rockets' earlier efforts and strategic gameplay helped them to edge out North Olmsted. The final score was Bay High School 28, North Olmsted 14. Noteworthy defensive plays included Ethan George's forced fumble and Charlie Rodgers' recovery in the forth to help seal the win, along with Boehnlein's earlier mentioned defensive touchdown. The Rockets now prepare to face Lakewood on October 17, 2025, at Lakewood High School, aiming to build on their current 5-3 record.
