Bay Rockets Varsity Girls Golf Secures Third at LEGGA Conference Championship
The Bay High School Girls Varsity Golf team, familiarly known as the Rockets, showcased commendable skill at the LEGGA Conference Championship on September 18, 2025. Held at the esteemed Big Met Golf Course, the event saw the Rockets competing against formidable schools including Keystone, Rocky River, Westlake, Wellington, Columbia, and North Olmsted. The Championship adopted an 18-hole stroke play format, which unfurled intense competition among the participating teams. Keystone clinched the lead with a score of 357 followed by Rocky River at 375. The Rockets concluded the tournament with a respectable third-place finish, posting a team score of 380. Their closest rivals, Westlake, trailed behind at 393, while Columbia and Wellington tied at 448, and North Olmsted rounded out the field with 538. Bay High School's top golfers delivered solid performances throughout the tournament. Charlotte Fox led the Rockets with a commendable 89, securing 2nd place overall in individual rankings—a pivotal moment that highlighted the championship. Annabel Sjoberg and Cannon Conley both carded 96, followed closely by teammates Amelia Dalalau with 99, Caroline Kousaie at 100, and Mariah VanNewhouse who scored 103. Looking ahead, the Rockets will next compete in the LEGGA Conference Match against Westlake on September 25, before moving onto the Sectionals set for September 29. The team remains focused on leveraging their recent experiences to optimize their performance in the upcoming events.
