Bay Rockets Varsity Volleyball Faces Setback Against Gilmour Academy
In a defining moment for the Bay High School Rockets Varsity Girls' Volleyball team, they hosted the Gilmour Academy Lancers in a regular season non-conference volleyball contest on September 15, 2025. The match at Bay High School saw the Rockets struggle against the strong Lancers, resulting in a 0-3 loss for the Rockets. The first set showed competitive spirit from both sides, with the Rockets trailing only slightly before losing 21-25 to Gilmour. The tension and energy carried into the second set, which mirrored the first, ending once again with the Rockets down 21-25. In the third and final set, despite efforts to regain their footing, the Rockets closed the match with a narrow 20-25 loss, giving Gilmour Academy the winning edge in all sets. Standout performances from the Rockets included Payton Masterson, who earned 8 service points, making her a key player of the day. Supporting her were Lila Gilmore with 5 points, and Olivia Miller adding 4 points. Teammates Amelia Vecchio, Ella Hoerig, Olivia Stehlik, and Nina Peet each contributed 3 points. The Bay High School Rockets, who currently hold a season record of 11-2, look to rebound in their next game. They will remain on their home court to face Valley Forge on September 16, 2025, hoping to utilize their home advantage and recover from this stumble.
