Bay Rockets Wrestling Faces Tough Challenge at Shaker Heights

On December 11, 2025, the Bay High School Rockets traveled to Shaker Heights High School for a non-conference wrestling dual against the Shaker Heights Raiders. While the Rockets faced a formidable opponent and ultimately fell 57-18, the team demonstrated grit, growth, and promising individual performances throughout the meet. Bay’s lineup featured several strong showings, including victories from Carver Vovos (113 lbs), Max Prahl (120), and Ben Wagner (157)—highlighting the competitive potential on the roster. Cater Baruxes (138) pushed his match into overtime before a hard-fought loss, showing the heart of a competitor. Additionally, Forrest Ramage (165) and Adyn Henthorne (150) gained valuable early-season mat time in their first matches of the year. In an exciting milestone for the program, Helena McHugh (126) made her debut in a Girls Wrestling exhibition match, competing with courage and determination—an encouraging moment for Bay’s growing wrestling community. Despite the final score favoring Shaker Heights, the Rockets’ Coach Clarke spoke highly of his team’s effort, especially from the underclassmen. “I am proud of my underclassmen as they are seeing high-level competition early on. We are a younger team, so we’re expected to take our bumps along the way, but it gives the appropriate feedback for us as we continue to develop,” he said. Coach Clarke sees these early tests as vital to building confidence, technique, and the mental toughness needed for success later in the season — especially as wrestlers work on refining their skills and adapting to varsity competition. Looking forward, the Rockets will be back in action at the Pirate Duals hosted by Garaway High School on December 14, 2025, where they hope to build on the lessons learned and continue the momentum heading into the Holiday Break.
