Bay Boys Track & Field rolls past Lakewood on Senior Night
Bay Boys Track & Field turned in a strong all-around showing Wednesday, defeating Lakewood 86-38 in a dual meet in Bay Village. On a clear afternoon with temperatures in the upper 70s, the Rockets controlled the meet with sprint victories, relay strength and a series of big performances in the field events.
The Rockets set the tone on the track early. Max Fischer once again led the way in the 110-meter hurdles, taking first place, while Lute Harmon added more team points with a runner-up finish. Bay also packed the 100-meter dash, where Colin McAlea finished first, Ben Kamm took second and Jack Downing placed third. In the relays, the 4x100 team of Will Curran, Downing, Fischer and Jayden Perrine pulled away for a convincing win, and the 4x200 group of Avery Banks, Harmon, Carter Baruxes and Jack Downing also finished first.
Bay's depth showed up throughout the running events. Stephen Murphy won the 3,200 and added a second-place finish in the 1,600, while Adrian Ray took second in the 800. Leo Kruger placed third in the 400, and Ewan Maille added a third-place finish in the 300 hurdles. The Rockets were especially dominant in the 200, sweeping the event as Will Curran crossed first, Fischer followed in second and McAlea finished third.
The field events brought another wave of momentum. Braeden Egan won both the discus and shot put, continuing a big day for Bay's throwers. Ethan McCready placed second in discus, while Andrew Egan took second in shot put and Danny Zipfel finished third. In the jumps, Jackson Smith cleared 6 feet to win the high jump, with Harmon placing second. Oliver Marotta captured first in the long jump, Ben Rickson finished second and Avery Banks added a third-place result to complete another productive event for the Rockets.
From the sprints to the distance races to the throws and jumps, Bay Village stacked points in nearly every phase of the meet. The final 86-38 margin reflected that complete effort, with individual winners, relay victories and several multi-place finishes highlighting a day that gave the Rockets plenty to celebrate at home.
