Bay shuts down Southview in 6-3 road win
Bay High School’s varsity boys lacrosse team leaned on physical defense, strong goaltending and balanced scoring Tuesday night to earn a 6-3 win at Southview.
In a tough, gritty matchup at Southview, the Rockets set the tone with the kind of focused effort that showed up across the field. Bay outworked the opposition in key stretches and turned the game with its defensive pressure, limiting Southview to three goals while controlling the pace in a physical contest.
Zavier Phinney led the Rockets’ attack with two goals and one assist. Rocco Ereditario added a goal and two assists, helping drive Bay’s offense as both a scorer and distributor. John Messmore finished with a goal and an assist, while Grady Joyce and John Allan each scored once to round out the six-goal effort.
The Rockets’ defense supplied the foundation for the win. Bay’s back line handled a physical game well and kept Southview from finding consistent rhythm, while the goaltending held up under pressure and preserved the advantage. Author-supplied notes pointed to both the physical defensive play and the performance in cage as central factors in the result.
Bay did not have detailed faceoff or save totals available, but the overall flow reflected a team that stayed composed and efficient in the possession battle. The Rockets’ ability to finish scoring chances, move the ball through multiple contributors and continue to defend with discipline allowed them to maintain control in a low-scoring game.
The win moved Bay through a demanding road test with a clear formula: tough defense, reliable goaltending and production from several offensive pieces. On a night defined by physical play, the Rockets answered with the sharper and more complete performance in a 6-3 decision.
