Bay Varsity Boys Golf Team Performs Well at Cleveland West Conference Round 2

The Bay Varsity Boys Golf team participated in the Cleveland West Conference Round 2 at the Seneca Golf Course in Broadview Heights on August 14, 2025. This 18-hole stroke play tournament showcased the skill and dedication of the Varsity Boys team as they faced off against strong competitors within the eight-team conference. The Rockets finished with a team score of 335, marking a season low and highlighting the team's continual improvement. Top opponents Westlake and Rocky River scored 307 and 310 respectively, showcasing the competitive nature of the tournament. Several Bay High players stood out during the event, notably Travis Ropelewski, who finished with a score of 77, including three birdies, earning him a 7th place finish overall. Other notable performances included Matthew Mileti with an 83 and two birdies, placing 12th, and Ben Wagner, who had a strong start with a score of 40 on the front 9. Big moments for the team included consecutive birdies on holes 4 and 5 by Travis Ropelewski, which were instrumental in kickstarting the team's momentum. Ben Wagner's solid performance on the front 9 further boosted the team's performance early in the round. Coach expressed pride in the team's performance, noting the season-low score and recognizing the high level of competition in the conference. He emphasized the need for the team to focus on finishing their rounds strongly to compete for the top spots in the conference. Travis Ropelewski shared insights on his play, indicating his satisfaction with his approach and noting that better luck with putts could have further improved his score. As the season progresses with a current record of 4-4, the Bay High School Rockets Golf team remains a strong competitor within the Cleveland West Conference. Their commitment to improving and displaying exceptional sportsmanship continues to define their season.
