Travis Haselswerdt | Bay High School | Apr 20, 2025

In an event marked by challenging weather but brimming with exceptional performances, the Bay High School Rockets girls' track and field team hosted the 6th Annual Rocket Invitational on April 19, 2025. Competing against tough opponents such as Avon, Westlake, and several others, the Rockets secured a commendable third place finish at their home event. Despite the rainy and temperate conditions, the Rockets delivered standout performances across both track and field events. In the sprints, sophomore Captain Annie Willmitch dazzled with a third place in the 100 meters and repeated her success with another third in the 200 meters. Freshman sensation Ruby Render set a season personal record with a time of 61.87 in the 400 meters, showcasing her emerging dominance. Senior Erin Beveal captured the spotlight by claiming the first-place finish in the 3200 meters, underpinning the team's strength in distance events. The Rockets also excelled in relay events, with memorable performances especially in the 4x100 and 4x200 relays, both clinching second place. The team's prowess in field events was evident as Maddie Knaack contributed valuable points in the Discus, and Gigi Waters continued her promising start with another scoring finish in the Pole Vault. Freshman Alex Linsenmeyer reflected on the gritty conditions, stating, "It was a tough day in the rain, but setting a season best in the 4x200 made it all worth it!" Echoing the sentiment of resilience, Coach Kaiser remarked, "As long as it's not lighting and thunder, it's track time!" Looking forward, the Rockets are set to host their next event on April 23, 2025, facing a tri meet at Bay High School. With momentum on their side, the Rockets are geared up to build on their impressive performances over Spring Break!
