Blaire Glass earned a straight-sets victory at first singles to secure Bay High School’s team point Thursday, but Orange High School won the remaining four matches to defeat the Rockets 4-1 at Bay Village.
Bay’s strongest result came at the top of the singles lineup, where Blaire Glass completed the match without dropping a set. The performance gave the Rockets an important win against Orange and highlighted a lineup that competed across three singles and two doubles matches.
Savannah Keberdle played second singles, while Elizabeth Steele played third singles. Orange captured both matches, giving the visitors two of their four team points. Although the Rockets did not add another singles victory, their lineup continued to compete through each flight.
In doubles, Ella Schelzig and Madeline Mahoney teamed up at the first position. Mikayla Long and Maura Mahoney also delivered one of the closest and most demanding contests of the match. Their extended battle reached a set tiebreaker before Orange prevailed, turning a tightly contested set into one of the day’s decisive moments.
