Bowler Sets Season and Career Marks at Sectional Tournament

NIck Pacholski | Bay High School | Oct 1, 2026

BAY_VILLAGE, Ohio - Bay High School finished 13th with a team score of 410 at the OHSAA Sectional Tournament on Monday, September 28, in Fairview Park, Ohio, closing its golf season behind a record-setting round from freshman Katherine Bowler. Bowler shot a career-best 89, the Rockets’ lowest individual 18-hole score of the season.

None of the Rockets advanced to the district tournament, but Bowler finished 24th overall in the 92-golfer field. Bowler also placed third among freshmen and recorded the highest finish of any golfer from the CWC conference, leading Bay’s four counting scorers.

Bowler’s 89 lowered the Rockets’ previous season-best 18-hole mark by seven strokes. The round included a 42 on the back nine, setting both a personal nine-hole record and the team’s lowest nine-hole total of the season. That score edged the 43 posted earlier in the season by senior Ella Taulbee, giving Bowler two team scoring benchmarks in the season finale.

Caroline Kousaie followed with a 103, while Stella Turrall shot 107 and Samantha Fry finished with 111. Those three rounds, combined with Bowler’s 89, accounted for Bay’s 410 total. Bowler was the only Rocket to break 100, finishing 14 strokes ahead of the team’s next-lowest scorer.

The sectional result ended the Rockets’ postseason without a district qualifier. All four golfers whose scores counted toward the team total will return next year, including Bowler after a freshman season capped by career lows over both nine and 18 holes.
