Buckeye pulled away in the fourth quarter to defeat Bay 34-14 on Friday night, turning aside a determined comeback bid after the Rockets had threatened to tie the game late. Bay stayed within striking distance behind touchdown plays from Brody Beggs and Ethan Sedivic, but Buckeye created separation over the closing stretch.

Beggs provided one of the plays that revived the Rockets, scoring a touchdown that helped Bay regain momentum. Sedivic also reached the end zone as the Rockets finished with two touchdowns. Those scores kept Bay in contention and gave the offense an opportunity to push for a tie after a turnover before Buckeye ultimately took control in the fourth quarter.

Bay’s offensive line delivered a strong effort at the point of attack and helped to give Cleary the time to throw both touchdowns. The BVOLs work allowed the Rockets to sustain their challenge deep into the game, even as Buckeye’s defense tried to disrupt Bay’s rhythm.

The Rockets also generated takeaways on defense, forcing two fumbles. Blake Williams delivered the most notable defensive play with a strip sack, combining pressure on the quarterback with a forced turnover. This gave the Rockets an opportunity to tie the game. That effort was part of a defensive performance that gave Bay chances to stay close before Buckeye’s fourth-quarter surge widened the final margin.

Although the closing quarter got away from the Rockets, their fight through the earlier stages and late push offered positives to carry forward. Bay will return home to face Normandy at 7 p.m. EDT on Friday, Sept. 18, 2026.
