Gilmour tops Bay Boys Tennis 4-1 as Trnavsky earns Rockets' lone win
Gilmour handed Bay High School a 4-1 loss Tuesday at Bradley Park in Bay Village, but the Rockets still came away with a strong individual showing from Nate Trnavsky, who delivered the team’s lone point with a straight-set victory at second singles.
Trnavsky’s win provided the highlight of the afternoon for Bay in varsity boys tennis action. According to the team’s match summary, he controlled second singles in straight sets and gave the Rockets a clear bright spot against a tough Gilmour lineup. His result accounted for Bay’s only team point in the dual.
Bay also got a competitive effort from Martin Hausler. In one of the tighter singles matches of the day, Hausler battled through a hard-fought first-set tiebreaker before dropping the second set and falling in straight sets. Even in defeat, the extended opening set showed Bay’s ability to push points deep and make Gilmour earn its wins.
The 4-1 final reflected the challenge of the overall match, with Gilmour claiming the remaining courts to secure the team result. Bay did not have additional winning results in singles or doubles, but Trnavsky’s performance and Hausler’s competitive first set gave the Rockets two of the day’s most notable moments.
Tuesday’s match was played at Bradley Park, where Bay, the home team, faced Gilmour in another late-season test. With another home match scheduled for Wednesday against SOUTH, the Rockets will look to build on Trnavsky’s singles win and carry that momentum into the next opportunity.
