Girls Track & Field Wins First Dual Meet at North Olmsted

The girls track and field team enjoyed several standout performances Wednesday evening as they traveled to North Olmsted High School, winning their first dual meet of the season 78-45.

In the field events, senior Riley Mitchell continued her great season, winning the Shot Put and taking second in the Discus, enjoying her second best effort on the season.  Susie Hargett, Leila Ghaffari, and Chloe Pyros also threw well, highlighted by Chloe’s best throw of the season in the Shot.  In the High Jump, freshmen Meg Webster and Lily Kamm both scored, with Meg enjoying a new person best, while sophomore Ruby Render and junior McKenna Adkins took the top two spots in the Long Jump.  Rounding out the field events, freshman Anika Schulz won the Pole Vault in her first ever meet!

In the distance events, it was a clean sweep as the girls won the 4x800, 1600, and 3200.  Senior Anne Weber returned from injury to run a great 1600 while freshmen Kai Ripley and Vivienne Joyce finished close behind to take second and third while Maya Gonzalez, in the 3200, enjoyed another outstanding performance and another first place finish.

In the sprints, juniors Annie Wilmitch and Evin Mason took second in the 100 and 200, respectively, while Ruby and junior Birdie Kreuger took the top two spots in the 400.  The highlight of the sprinting events, and the day, was the 4x100 team of Riley, Leila, Chloe, and Banning, running their first ever relay and pumping up the crowd with their second place finish!
