Ground Game Carries University Schools Past Bay, 35-7

University Schools controlled the line of scrimmage with an effective rushing attack and disruptive front seven on defense, pulling away for a 35-7 victory over Bay High School on Thursday evening in 29230 Wolf Rd, Bay Village, OH 44140. The Rockets struggled to establish their own running game as University Schools repeatedly pressured the backfield and prevented Bay from developing a consistent offensive rhythm.

Bay's biggest offensive highlight came when Ethan Sedivic completed a highlight-reel toe-tap touchdown, giving the Rockets a needed scoring play against a difficult defense. Quarterback Patrick Cleary competed throughout the game despite facing steady pressure, continuing to battle as University Schools' defensive front disrupted plays involving Patrick Cleary and the Bay running game.

Ryan Connors provided a dependable option in the passing game, finishing with four receptions for 65 yards. Three of those catches moved the chains, and Connors also gave Bay favorable field position with several productive kick returns. His ability to create yardage offered the Rockets one of their most consistent sources of offense.

The Rockets also produced encouraging moments on defense. Ethan Sedivic a WR and safety wearing No. 3, contributed to Bay's scoring effort with a touchdown and recorded two pass breakups. Sedivic also delivered another important defensive play by forcing a fumble in the red zone, denying University Schools a scoring opportunity and giving Bay a timely takeaway near its own goal line.

University Schools' ability to run the ball remained the difference, allowing the visitors to sustain possessions and build the final margin. Bay will look to build on its takeaways, Conner's production and the offense's touchdown connection when the Rockets travel to face Firelands at 7 p.m. EDT on Friday, Sept. 4, 2026.
