Junior Issi Bruno scored the decisive goal just over five minutes into the second half, lifting the Bay High School girls soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Revere on Saturday at 29230 Wolf Rd, Bay Village, OH 44140. The Rockets overcame an early deficit and held Revere scoreless after halftime to secure the home win in light rain.
Revere opened the scoring early to give Revere a 1-0 lead. Bay responded by pressing for an equalizer, but the Rockets remained behind until the closing minutes of the first half. The breakthrough came with five minutes left before halftime when senior midfielder Anna Weingart converted a penalty kick, pulling Bay even at 1-1.
The Rockets carried that momentum into the second half. Shortly after the five-minute mark, Bruno delivered the go-ahead goal to put Bay in front 2-1. The score completed the comeback and shifted the responsibility to the Rockets’ defense, which protected the one-goal advantage for the remainder of the match.
Bay finished with one goal in each half while limiting Revere to its early first-half score. Anna Weingart’s penalty kick gave the Rockets a needed response before the break, and Bruno’s strike provided the difference as Bay turned a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 victory.
The Rockets return home to face Westlake HS at 5 p.m. EDT Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2026.
