BAY_VILLAGE, Ohio - Bay High School finished 29th with 685 points at the OHSAA Division 2 Regional on Saturday, Oct. 31, in Boardman, led by Liam Jager’s 42nd-place finish and Gavin English’s 84th-place effort. Jager clocked a personal-record 16:38.8.
Facing some of Northeast Ohio’s strongest Division 2 programs, the Rockets finished 29th out of 45 teams. English crossed in 17:08.4 as Bay’s second finisher, following Jager across the line by 29.6 seconds. The junior-sophomore pairing gave the Rockets their first two finishers inside the top 100 in a deep regional field.
Senior Adrian Ray and freshman Sam McClellan produced Bay’s closest finishing pair. Ray placed 177th in 17:48.1, with McClellan taking 189th in 17:53.3, just 5.2 seconds later. Freshman Adam Baltz completed the Rockets’ five-runner scoring group in 236th with an 18:17.9. That group included athletes from all four grade levels, with two freshmen gaining regional championship experience alongside Bay’s veteran runners.
Sophomores Liam Loeffler and Carver Vovos completed Bay’s seven-runner lineup. Loeffler finished 257th in 18:33.3, while Vovos followed 7.6 seconds later in 272nd at 18:40.9. The Rockets did not advance as a team, closing their regional appearance with five freshmen or sophomores in the lineup and will hope to return next year with valuable experience.
