Junior Madelyn Scores Twice as Bay Girls Soccer Opens Season With 2-0 Win
MEDINA, Ohio - Junior Madelyn scored both goals as Bay High School opened its girls soccer season with a 2-0 victory over Medina on Friday. The two-goal performance supplied the decisive attacking edge, while the Rockets completed the win with a strong finish on the defensive end.
Bay received contributions from multiple players in creating its two scoring opportunities. Issi Bruno and Lily Kazma each recorded an assist, helping Madelyn deliver the first brace of the Rockets' season. The goals gave Bay the separation it needed in a match that ended with the Rockets holding Medina scoreless.
The shutout remained intact through the closing stages, but Medina tested Bay late. Olivia Ruma answered with two outstanding saves near the end of the match, turning away the hosts' final push and preserving the clean sheet. Those stops ensured the work of the Rockets' defense and Madelyn's scoring performance resulted in a two-goal victory.
The result gave Bay a successful start to the season on the road. With Madelyn finishing both goals, Issi Bruno and Lily Kazma providing the assists and Olivia Ruma delivering in the late moments, the Rockets paired timely offense with composed defensive play to earn their first win.
Bay's next scheduled match is at home against Westlake HS at 5 p.m. EDT Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2026. The Rockets will enter that matchup looking to build on the balanced performance that produced a victory and a shutout in Medina.
