In JV action at the “Briar-Patch,” the Rockets went toe-to-toe with perennial Division I power Avon, battling throughout the afternoon before Avon secured a 163–171 victory.
Max Berry found his form once again, firing an impressive 40. Max’s ability to consistently find the fairway with quality tee shots gave him plenty of scoring opportunities, and he finished in style by parring his final three holes.
Sam Vardon continued his steady and consistent play, posting a 43. Sam’s ball-striking kept him in position all day, although his putter was a little rebellious and left a few strokes on the course.
Robert Pinkeva continued his impressive mid-season emergence with another 43. Mr. Pinkeva has officially caught the “Golf Bug”—and he’s starting to take names! His confidence and competitive edge continue to grow with every round.
Rounding out the Rockets’ scoring were Jack McAllister and Deloy Johnson, each carding a solid 45.
The score may have favored Avon, but the bigger story continues to be the growth, confidence, and competitive spirit of this young Rockets squad. These players are gaining valuable match experience and they’re getting better every time they tee it up.
