Bay High School's tennis star Leo Willhoite delivered an outstanding performance, advancing to the next round of the OHSAA Tennis Tournament. Competing in the Singles category, Leo's recent victory marks a significant milestone for both him and the Rockets Tennis team.
Leo's path to the Districts was notable, as he claimed victory in a rigorous three-set match against the fourth-seeded player from Gilmour Academy. The match scores were recorded as 2-6, 6-3, 6-3, showcasing Leo's resilience and strategic prowess on the court. This win propels him forward in the tournament, with District play scheduled to commence a week from Friday in Akron.
Reflecting on Leo's performance, the team's coach praised his strategic play, noting, "Leo played very smart tennis today. Not only did he have to battle a quality opponent, he had to deal with the heat for the first time this season. Leo remained patient and hit quality shots when needed." This acknowledgment highlights the challenges overcome and the skill demonstrated during the match.
