Oliver Marotta scored the deciding goal in the final five minutes Saturday night, lifting the Bay High School Rockets to a 2-1 victory over NDCL in their boys soccer season opener at Bay Memorial Stadium. The late finish broke a second-half tie and gave Bay a winning start to the 2026 campaign.

Bay took the lead in the first half through Evan Catteau. Wearing No. 5, Evan Catteau delivered the Rockets' first goal of the season and sent the home side into halftime ahead 1-0. The Rockets complemented that breakthrough with a defensive effort that kept NDCL scoreless throughout the opening half.

NDCL responded early in the second half, scoring the equalizer to make it 1-1. The goal reset the match and forced Bay to pursue another opening while limiting NDCL's chances to move in front. The Rockets stayed composed through the tied stretch, keeping the season opener within reach as the final minutes approached.

The decisive opportunity arrived inside the last five minutes. Oliver Marotta, wearing No. 10, converted Bay's second goal and restored the Rockets' advantage at 2-1. With little time remaining, Bay protected the lead and prevented NDCL from producing another equalizer.

The victory featured timely scoring in both halves, with Evan Catteau providing the opening goal and Oliver Marotta supplying the late winner. Bay also held NDCL to one goal while navigating a match played under partly cloudy conditions, completing the opener with a balanced team effort and a 1-0 start.
