Olmsted Falls Tops Bay in Straight Sets Despite Strong Service Production

Olmsted Falls defeated the Bay High School Rockets in straight sets, 25-17, 25-20, on Saturday morning at 26939 Bagley Rd, Olmsted Falls, OH 44138. The Rockets finished the match 0-2 after narrowing the margin in the second set but could not extend the contest.
Olmsted Falls established the early advantage with an eight-point victory in the opening set. Bay generated points from the service line, but the Rockets were unable to overcome the first-set deficit as Olmsted Falls moved ahead 1-0 with the 25-17 result.
The Rockets produced a more competitive score in the second set. Bay trimmed the final margin from eight points in the opener to five, keeping the set closer before Olmsted Falls secured the final points needed for a 25-20 win and completed the two-set sweep.
Amelia Vecchio led Bay's service production with 11 points, the highest total reported for the Rockets. Sloane Kerber added seven service points, giving the pair 18 combined and providing a consistent source of offense across the match. Their work from the line highlighted Bay's ability to create scoring opportunities even as Olmsted Falls controlled the set results.
Although the Rockets did not claim a set, the five-point second-set margin represented an improvement from the opening frame and gave the team a measurable area on which to build. Bay's service output, led by Amelia Vecchio and Kerber, was the clearest individual strength in the straight-set result.
Bay will return home to face Lakewood at Bay High School on Tuesday, Sep. 1, at 6 p.m. EDT.
