Bay High School capped a memorable weekend in Columbus with a ninth-place finish and 16 team points at the OHSAA State Track and Field Championship, powered by a standout performance from Jayden Perrine and a group of Rockets who delivered on the sport’s biggest stage. Bay qualified six athletes across five events, and the program turned that opportunity into a celebration of speed, perseverance and season-long growth.

The biggest headlines came from Jayden Perrine, who closed his high school career with a pair of state runner-up finishes in the 100 meters and 200 meters. Those two silver-medal efforts accounted for a major share of Bay’s scoring and gave the Rockets an electrifying presence in both sprint finals. His finish to the season stood as one of the strongest state-meet showings ever produced by a Bay Village track athlete, capping a career filled with big-meet performances and lasting impact on the Bay program.

Bay also showed impressive relay strength by getting both sprint relays back to Columbus. In the 4x200-meter relay, Will Curran, Ben Kamm, Max Fischer and Jayden Perrine helped the Rockets finish 15th in the state, while the 4x100-meter team featuring Evan Taulbee, Ben Kamm, Colin McAlea and Jayden Perrine placed 16th. Those results reflected months of work through the winter and spring, and they gave Bay another clear sign of the depth and energy that carried this group all season.

In the hurdles, Max Fischer put an exclamation point on an impressive season by finishing 18th in the state in the 110-meter hurdles. Just reaching the state meet in such a demanding event was a notable achievement, and he followed it with a composed effort against elite competition. Bay also celebrated the season turned in by Max, whose commitment and progress helped lift the Rockets to the state stage and added to the program’s strong overall showing.

More than anything, Bay’s weekend in Columbus was a reflection of a senior group and a state-qualifying squad that made the most of every chance. The Rockets earned their place among Ohio’s best, created lasting memories with both sprint relays back at state, and left the championship meet with hardware, points and pride. Bay finishes the season with a ninth-place trophy in the standings, two state runner-up medals from Jayden Perrine, and a group performance that will be remembered around the program for years.
