Revere Uses Second-Half Surge to Edge Bay 2-1

BAY VILLAGE, Ohio - Revere scored twice during a decisive 15-minute stretch in the second half and held off Bay High School for a 2-1 victory Saturday night. Oliver Marotta scored for the Rockets, but all three goals came between the 46th and 60th minutes after the teams played a scoreless first half.

Bay created chances from the start, producing 12 first-half shots and putting five on target. The Rockets could not convert before halftime, but their pressure kept the match even through the opening 45 minutes. Bay finished with 49.8% possession and completed 171 of 259 passes while working to create opportunities through 10 crosses and four corner kicks.

The match changed quickly after halftime. Marotta converted Bay’s goal from an Evan Catteua assist during the 46th-to-60th-minute segment, while Revere struck twice in the same window to take control. Marotta led the Rockets with seven shots, including four on goal. Catteua also placed four of his five attempts on target in addition to supplying the assist.

Bay continued to press after falling behind and recorded 14 shots in the second half, eight of them on goal. Weston Matty and Andrew Starnes contributed four shots apiece, with each putting one attempt on target. William Will Waters added two shots and one effort on goal as the Rockets searched for an equalizer.

The Rockets finished with 26 shots overall and placed 13 on target, giving them a 50% shot-on-goal rate. Bay’s defense also recorded four blocks, and the Rockets’ goalkeeper made eight saves to keep the deficit at one. Revere withstood Bay’s sustained second-half pressure and protected its 2-1 advantage through the final whistle.
