Rockets Advance to Regionals With Tight Pack

George Curran | Bay High School | Oct 25, 2026

BAY_VILLAGE, Ohio - Bay boy's Cross Country secured a regional berth with an 11-point cushion at the District Championship on Saturday, October 24, as Liam Jager led the Rockets in 17:24.7. All seven runners improved their times from seven weeks earlier.

Gavin English followed in 17:37.1 and Adrian Ray finished in 17:42.2, putting Bay’s first three runners within 17.5 seconds of one another. The margins around that group were critical: Had each of those three runners finished just four seconds slower, the Rockets would have slipped to 12th and missed qualifying for Regionals at Boardman.

Sam McClellan crossed in 17:55.3, while Carver Vovos delivered an important performance in 18:23.7 to complete Bay’s scoring five. The Rockets finished with a first-to-fifth spread of just 59 seconds, down from 1:30.9 seven weeks earlier, a 31.9-second reduction that helped make every scoring position count.

Liam Loeffler added to the team depth finishing in 19:21.8 and teamed with McClellan to cut a combined 2:24 from their previous times. Juratic battled through illness to finish in 19:47.6, completing the Rockets’ seven-runner lineup.

Bay’s route through districts depended on collective progress rather than a single standout finish. The front runners kept close together, the scoring pack narrowed its gaps and the remaining runners protected valuable places in the field. Across the entire lineup, the Rockets cut a combined 5 minutes, 50.1 seconds from their times seven weeks earlier, an average improvement of 50 seconds per runner.
