Rockets Build Six-Goal Halftime Lead in 8-0 Win Over Normandy

BAY_VILLAGE, Ohio - Bay High School built a six-goal halftime lead and defeated Normandy 8-0 in conference soccer action Tuesday, Oct. 6, in Parma. The Rockets put the match firmly in their favor before the break, then added two second-half goals while keeping Normandy off the scoreboard.
The first-half scoring surge accounted for most of Bay’s offense and established a 6-0 advantage. The Rockets paired that production with a shutout, holding Normandy scoreless through both halves. Bay finished with an eight-goal margin on the road, with its attack and defense contributing to the conference victory.
Alex Linsenmeyer, Aley Fetterman and Laney Bigler scored two goals apiece for Bay, while Quinn Zastudil, Cailin Robinson and Annabel McFarland also contributed goals. The two multi-goal performances were highlights of an attack that produced six goals before halftime and continued scoring after the break.
The match also featured varsity milestones for Freshman Laney Bigler and Freshman Quinn Zastudil, who scored their first varsity goals. First goals of the season for Annabel McFarland and Cailin Robinson added to the individual achievements, making the conference result notable beyond the final margin.
Bay’s two-goal second half extended the advantage from 6-0 to 8-0, and Normandy finished without a goal. The Rockets play Lakewood High School in their next contest Wednesday, Oct. 14.
