BAY_VILLAGE, Ohio - Bay High School defeated Buckeye 3-2 in a varsity volleyball conference match Tuesday, Oct. 6, taking the deciding set 15-12 after the teams split four closely contested sets. The Rockets won by scores of 26-24, 26-28, 25-22, 23-25, 15-12, with neither team winning a set by more than three points.

The opening two sets both extended beyond 25 points. Bay secured the first 26-24 to take an early advantage, but Buckeye responded with a 28-26 victory in the second. Those two-point finishes left the match tied at one set apiece, setting up another narrow contest in the third.

The Rockets moved back in front with a 25-22 third-set win and stood one set from clinching the match. Buckeye forced a fifth set by taking the fourth 25-23. Bay then prevailed 15-12 in the shortened deciding set, securing its third set victory after Buckeye had twice evened the match.

Payton Masterson led Bay's service-point contributions with 19 points, followed by Lila Ross with 13. Together, those two accounted for 32 of the Rockets' 57 reported service points. Camille Costin and Andy Naughton added seven service points apiece, giving Bay four players with at least seven in the five-set victory.

Sloane Kerber contributed six service points, while Addy Hoegler supplied three. Morgan Parris and Kendall Hoerig finished with one each, bringing the number of Rockets credited with service points to eight. The Rockets play Westlake in their next contest Tuesday, Oct. 13.
