Rockets Fall 3-2 at Rocky River After Late Comeback

BAY_VILLAGE, Ohio - Bay High School surrendered a two-goal lead as Rocky River scored three times in the 76th through 90th minutes to defeat the Rockets 3-2 on Wednesday, Sept. 30, in Rocky River. The boys varsity soccer match was part of a doubleheader with girls varsity.
The Rockets opened the scoring between the 16th and 30th minutes, a stretch that included three shots, two shots on target and five corner kicks. Bay carried a 1-0 lead into halftime after recording four shots and holding 57.4% possession. Defensively, the Rockets registered one first-half block and kept Rocky River scoreless.
Bay extended its advantage to 2-0 between the 46th and 60th minutes, producing four shots and putting three on target during that stretch. The Rockets then protected the lead through the 75th minute with two saves and a block. They also generated two shots during the 61st through 75th minutes, including one on target.
Rocky River overturned that advantage with its three-goal surge late in the second half. Bay made two more saves during the same stretch and continued to create attacking chances, recording a shot on target and three corner kicks, but could not add to its total as the hosts moved ahead 3-2.
The Rockets finished with 12 shots, seven on target, nine corner kicks and 56.4% possession. Bay completed 185 of 271 passes and recorded four saves, all in the second half, along with two blocks. No assists were recorded on the Rockets' two goals. Bay attempted one final shot in stoppage time, but it was off target, and neither team scored again.
