Rockets Fall in CWC Tri, Young Wrestlers Post Solid Individual Efforts

Jeremy Clarke | Bay High School | Jan 9, 2026

Bay High School opened conference dual action with a challenging night on the mat Thursday at Rocky River High School, dropping CWC matchups to North Olmsted, 60-9, and Westlake, 60-16. Despite the team scores going against the Rockets, several wrestlers delivered encouraging individual performances that highlighted the program’s depth and emerging talent.

Freshman 120-pounder Max Prahl and senior 144-pounder Joe Beauchesne led the way for Bay, each finishing 2-0 on the night. Their pair of victories at the lighter and middle weights provided key points in both duals and underscored their importance in the Rockets’ lineup. The combination of Beauchesne’s veteran presence and Prahl’s strong start to his high school career stood out as a bright spot in an otherwise difficult team result.

Bay also picked up wins from junior 138-pounder Carter Baruxes and freshman 106-pounder Carver Vovos, who each secured victories to help the Rockets get on the board in the duals. Their performances, coupled with the efforts of Prahl and Beauchesne, accounted for the bulk of Bay’s scoring in the 9-60 loss to North Olmsted and 16-60 setback against Westlake. While the Rockets were unable to string together enough wins across the lineup to threaten the team outcomes, the victories at key weights showed the potential for improvement as the season progresses.

Coach Clarke
This was a great opportunity for our younger wrestlers to step up, and they did just that. I’m proud of their effort, resilience, and willingness to compete—those experiences will pay off as the season continues.

Several wrestlers stepped into significant roles and handled varsity competition well, even in defeat. Freshman 138-pounder Easton Lockhart and junior 150-pounder Adyn Henthorne both wrestled competitively while seeing varsity action, gaining valuable experience against conference opponents. Their efforts reflected a lineup that is still developing but showing signs of competitiveness across multiple classes.

The lopsided final scores against North Olmsted and Westlake underscored the challenge of navigating a deep and experienced CWC field, particularly for a Rockets squad featuring multiple underclassmen in the starting group. Bay’s coaching staff can point to the 2-0 efforts from Prahl and Beauchesne, along with wins by Baruxes and Vovos, as key building blocks in preparing for the remainder of the conference schedule.

With early conference action now underway, the Rockets will look to translate these individual highlights into more balanced dual performances. Continued growth from the younger wrestlers and consistent production from veterans will be central to Bay’s efforts to close the gap in upcoming CWC matchups.

Rockets move to 0-3 on the season and look to continue into the dual season with another conference Matchup next Thursday at Normandy HS as they wrestle Medina Buckeye and Rocky River High School for Round 2 of CWC Matches, followed by the Twinsburg Duals on Friday. Go Rockets!
