Rockets Post Season-Best 202 in Loss to Westlake
Bay recorded the Rockets’ lowest team score of the season Tuesday, but Westlake prevailed 169-202 in a varsity girls golf dual match at Sweetbriar Golf Club. The defeat dropped Bay High School to 3-4 in dual-match play despite its strongest scoring performance of the year.
Caroline Kousaie led the Rockets with a 47, the team’s low round of the match. Ella Taulbee followed with a 51, while Samantha Fry and Lydia Oldham each shot 52. Oldham’s round was a season low and added another encouraging result to Bay’s improved team performance.
Katherine Bowler also continued to show progress with a 52, giving the Rockets three players at that score. June Hart finished with a 54. With three golfers tied at 52, two of those rounds joined the 47 and 51 to produce Bay’s team total of 202.
The Rockets’ balanced scoring was not enough to offset Westlake's exceptionally strong showing. The Demons finished 33 strokes ahead in the team standings, using its total of 169 to secure the dual-match victory. Bay will have a quick chance to build on its season-best score when the Rockets face Columbia at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Sweetbriar Golf Club.
