Rockets Shine at Avon Invitational
Bay High School's Track and Field team, showcased impressive performances at the Avon Invitational on May 2, 2025. The event was marked by a series of standout achievements and personal bests across various disciplines, positioning the Rockets as serious contenders in the postseason. In one of the most riveting performances, Jayden Perrine not only won the 200m but also set a new meet record with a near-school record time of 21.72 seconds. His exceptional form continued as he secured a 4th place in the 400m race with a time of 50.35 seconds. Michael Hanselman excelled in the 3200m, leading early and breaking away in the final kilometer to clinch victory in 9:26.93, demonstrating strategic mastery and endurance. The Rockets also saw considerable promise in the shorter distances with Charlie Rodgers finishing 8th in the 100m with a promising time of 11.15 seconds. The depth in distance events was underscored by Kieran Ripley who placed 3rd in the 1600m at 4:26.10 and 9th in the 800m, registering top five regional rankings in three distance events. Further contributing to the team's score, Jayden Perrine achieved a 3rd place in the Long Jump at 20-11.75, a testament to his versatility and athletic prowess. Team efforts in relay events painted a picture of strong coordination and peerless strategy, with the 4x400m team delivering their season's best time of 3:31.65 to finish 6th. The narrative of growth and teamwork continued with the Sprint relay team, who improved significantly on their exchange techniques, showing promise for future competitions. The Rockets are now looking forward to their next challenge against Normandy on May 7, 2025, in Bay Village. With this momentum, the Rockets are geared up for an exciting continuation of the season, aiming to bring more accolades to Bay High School.
