Rockets Shoot Season-Low 420 Behind Multiple Season-Low Rounds at Rocky River Invitational
Bay High School’s girls golf team produced its best 18-hole performance of the season Wednesday, shooting a 420 in the 14-team Rocky River Invitational at Big Met Golf Course in Fairview Park, Ohio. Caroline Kousaie led the Rockets with a season-best 97 as the team lowered its previous 18-hole low by 28 strokes.
The Rockets’ four leading rounds combined for the 420 team total. Sam Fry followed Caroline Kousaie with a 104, establishing career and season bests for 18 holes. Ella Taulbee added a 107, also a career and season low, while Stella Turrall completed the scoring with a 112, another career- and season-best round.
Bay’s improvement extended through the lineup. Katherine Bowler shot a 117 for a career and season best, giving the Rockets five individual season-low scores during the tournament. June Hart completed the team’s six rounds with a 122.
The balanced performance allowed the Rockets to make a substantial move from their previous season-best team score. Their top four cards ranged from 97 to 112, and the 15-stroke spread helped Bay finish at 420 after entering the event with a best 18-hole total of 448.
The invitational also served as a trial run for the Rockets’ upcoming CWC Championship, which will be played next Thursday at the same course. Bay will return to Big Met Golf Course after gaining a full competitive round of experience on the layout and recording its strongest collection of 18-hole scores this season.
