Rockets Show Improvement Behind Hart's Season-Low 107 at Avon Tournament
OBERLIN, Ohio - Bay High School produced several improving rounds Monday at the Avon Rush Family Honorary Golf Tournament, led by an 18-hole 107 from June Hart. The score was the Rockets’ lowest round of the season, although the team did not earn the finish it wanted against a competitive tournament field.
The strongest moment of June Hart’s round came early. She made a birdie on her second hole, providing the highlight of a performance that set a new season benchmark for the Rockets. Maintaining that start over 18 holes helped produce the team’s best individual score of the year.
Caroline Kousaie followed closely with a 110, finishing only three strokes behind Hart and giving Bay two rounds at 110 or better. Samantha Fry added a 113, keeping three of the Rockets’ listed finishers within six strokes of the low score.
Ella Taulbee completed the four listed rounds with a 124. Hart, Kousaie, Fry and Taulbee combined for a total of 454. The scoring balance offered an encouraging sign for Bay, with multiple golfers contributing as the Rockets worked through the demands of an 18-hole tournament.
The event gave Bay a chance to measure its progress against a deep field in Oberlin. While the final placement fell short of the Rockets’ goal, the season-low 107 and the supporting scores showed that the lineup is beginning to lower its numbers in tournament competition.
