Rockets Strike Early to Beat Elida 4-0 in Regional Final
BAY_VILLAGE, Ohio - Lily Kazma scored three goals in the first seven minutes to defeat Elida 4-0 in a regional final Tuesday, Nov. 3, in Sandusky. The Rockets handed Elida its first loss of the season.
Junior Alex opened the scoring on a free kick just two minutes into the match, giving Bay an immediate advantage. The Rockets then added to the lead through a different route, with Linsenmeyer supplying the cross that junior Issi Bruno converted two minutes later. That combination put Bay ahead 2-0 only four minutes into the regional final.
Bruno turned provider on the next goal, assisting sophomore Lily Kazma three minutes later. The finish stretched the margin to 3-0 and completed an opening burst in which three different Rockets scored. Linsenmeyer and Bruno each contributed both a goal and an assist during that seven-minute stretch, connecting Bay's set-piece breakthrough with its next two finishes.
Kazma also scored Bay's remaining goal, finishing with two of the Rockets' four goals. At the other end, Senior Olivia Ruma recorded the shutout as Bay paired its early attacking production with a scoreless performance in goal. Elida finished without a goal in the regional-final defeat.
